What About Tesla Motors Getting A Little Bit Of That Money?

!This is assuming the money hasn’t already been spent and that it has to be spent!
I was watching ABC news the other night and they were doing a piece about Tesla Motors. Which is an American company that is based in California that manufactures a very nice sports car (its price is $109k) that is fully electric. It is faster than many Ferrari’s and has a 300 mile range before it needs to be recharged. This is what they are manufacturing right now.
In development
they have a full size sedan (its price is $55k) that will have a 280 mile range before needing to be recharged, the recharge time will be 45 minutes and will cost about five dollars worth of electricity. (Of course if all this is accurate)
My question is why aren’t we giving this company, instead of the big three, billions dollars to create new jobs and stimulate the economy. I believe that if capitalism is going to work we can’t become nostalgic about keeping Ford, GM, and Chrysler propped up. Unprofitable companies have to be let go. We should let them decrease their size to where they can become profitable again. They’re just too big. By helping Tesla expand it would help create new jobs that would be lost by the shrinking big three.
Helping fund Tesla Motors would help increase their product base to where they can manufacture cars that are more affordable, maybe a mid size sedan for around $30k and a compact for around $20k. Cars that would break our dependence on foreign oil making us safer and put us at the fore front of automotive technology again.
This is assuming that we are going to spend the money anyway.
I know there are holes with my idea but the overall idea is of spending money in places that are coming up instead of ones that are going down.
